Insurance Appraisal and Umpire Services

Policyholders often think the only way to settle the dispute is to hire a lawyer. Fortunately, this is not the case. Appraisal is a method of Alternative Dispute Resolution often found in many homeowner and commercial insurance policies. ​Appraisal is a cost effective, out-of-court, alternative dispute resolution process that helps the both parties resolve valuation matters in a reasonable and unbiased manner. The process is designed to help the both parties achieve an equitable solution in a cost effective manner. Basically, the insurance appraisal process may be initiated by either the insurance company or the policyholder. The process begins with one side invoking Appraisal and giving the other side notice. Each side appoints an Appraiser on their behalf, and the two Appraisers select an Umpire. The two Appraisers attempt to reach an agreement, and what they are unable to agree upon goes before the Umpire who has the final say. Basically, it is a three person panel wherein it takes two of the three to agree in order to resolve the disagreement. ​We provide both Appraisal and Umpire services.
